NSF TARDISS’ Engineering and Workforce Development (EWD) mission is to educate a new generation of vibrant workforce, equipping them with the skills necessary to engage in the many new jobs required to create a “Silicon Valley” of the domestic natural rubber industry and to lay the groundwork for these new workers to lead our environmental and economic future. Summer Programs
Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
A program designed to provide undergraduate students with an intensive, full-time summer research experience that emphasizes both technical skill development and professional growth.
Research Experiences for Teachers (RET)
A program providing educators with immersive, hands-on opportunities to engage directly in cutting-edge research alongside faculty and graduate students to strengthen connections between scientific discovery and classroom learning.
High School Program
The 5-week US NSF TARDISS Upward Bound course provides high school students with an opportunity to explore cutting-edge science and engineering in a supportive, college-like environment.
Student Leadership Council (SLC)
The Student Leadership Council (SLC) provides a formal mechanism for student engagement in NSF TARDISS governance, communication, and outreach. The SLC consists of graduate and undergraduate representatives from each partner institution. Members serve as liaisons between the student body and TARDISS leadership, ensuring that student perspectives inform decisions related to research, professional development, diversity and inclusion, and community-building activities. The SLC coordinates student-led seminars, outreach events, and peer mentoring initiatives, fostering leadership, project management, and communication skills among its members.
